I have been working with virtually every aspect of Yarders and other heavy equipment all my life. I began running a yarder for my father when I was 14 years old. I took over the company when he died, and operated successfully for over 13 years. When I sold the company in 1973 I had 3 separate sides operating.
Myself and 2 others started a logging/construction supply and heavy equipment company in 1970. I began working with them as I was selling the logging company. While I was with this company I had the opportunity to serve in a variety of positions from salesman to managing our service and fabrication shops. We built this company up to 6 stores. We were the Western Washington Dealers for Fiat Allis, S. Madill Inc., Washington Iron Works, Timberjack, Clark Lima, Eaton Products, and others.
With my past logging experience I had the opportunity to work with factory engineers developing new yarders, skyline carriages, and undercarriages for the logging and construction industry.
I became involved with the drag scrapers when Mount Saint Helens erupted in 1980 sending millions of yards of ash and debris down the Toutle and Cowlitz rivers. We were involved with several of the companies digging the river channels and set up more than a dozen yarders as drag scrapers.
Ramsey Company started up in 1983 buying and selling used equipment. Yarders and related equipment have always been our primary focus. Our desire to expand beyond our limited local market has led to our focus on the drag scraper market.
